Atria Senior Living
on Long Island
Every Atria Senior Living community is unique…here are two that I reviewed on Long Island, Suffolk County, New York. It will give you a good feeling for what Atria is like. Atria Bayshore

This is the community that made me fall in love with Atria. The only way to really know a community, and if it is right for you, is to visit. I highly recommend that when you do, you make an appointment and have a meal. You want to know if you like the food…and as Atria Senior Living says "we elevate dining to a fine art," and at Atria Bayshore where I did have a meal, I found this to be true. The casual lunch we ordered far exceeded our expectations. The detail put into the simple fare made this a memorable meal. Everything was super fresh, eye appealing, and exquisitely delicious--I do not exaggerate.
We ordered the grilled chicken sandwich which came on a very fresh Kaiser roll with pesto sauce. We also had a Greek salad filled with black olives and feta cheese and a very delicious dressing. We also had a side of very flavorful cole slaw and ice cream for dessert.
The menu consisted of daily specials (pictured) plus the regular menu.
Atria Bayshore combines independent living, assisted living and has memory care also. Part of the community is housed in a former estate which is elegant, light, airy and on 5 acres. If you are looking for a refined, elegant lifestyle, at Atria Bayshore, you have found it--it's quite special.
Sunroom or solarium..an ethereal quality greets you immediately upon entering.

Light and airy entry hall with original mouldings..
An interesting side note: The Director told me that there is a support group for caretakers held at the community and it is not necessary to be a resident to join in. Atria Bayshore is a very warm community that welcomes your family and makes them feel that this is their home as well as yours. The Director kept saying to me, "this is your home." She was wonderful, welcoming and gracious.
Beautiful gardens delight you everywhere
There is no pool but there is a YMCA nearby and of course, the historic town of Bayshore for shopping, restaurants. The Marina is also nearby. The one-bedrooms start at $6150/month for one person. There is a second-person fee. There are also 2 bedrooms. Care is additional fees. There are nurses available full-time. You may choose to wear a pendant for any emergency help you require. Pull cords in shower, and the Lifeline is in your room.
Check for availability at Atria Senior Living at Bayshore. They have a waiting list that you may wish to be put on if you are interested. I can't say enough good things about Atria Bayshore. You just simply must visit to find out more. Atria Bayshore by Atria Senior Living
Atria South Setauket

Atria South Setauket Assisted Living Entrance
Atria South Setauket had two separate buildings..one for active adult and the other for assisted living. This set up allows for a couple to be close nearby yet have different levels of care. Sometimes one partner needs more care than the other. Also, keep in mind that the person who doesn't need the personal care may be stressed or tired from being the caregiver and has made the decision to not reside with their partner for the benefit of both. The great thing about this Atria community in South Setauket is that there is a corridor between the two buildings giving easy access to each other at any time and especially for meals. This is a convenient arrangement for both. Of course, if you are alone, you may choose to go into either building..Atria can assess your needs if you are interested in assisted living. The assisted living here may provide you with more personal care services than you would receive in an active community or a senior apartment. If you are worried about living alone than you may prefer the assisted building with 24- hour staff on duty and emergency call system. When you visit you will understand what I mean when I say the community exudes warmth and caring.
It is hard to find assisted living communities with a pool but South Setauket has one surrounded by a garden ambience.

The community is also adjacent to the Heatherwood Golf course right across the street--a beautiful 18-hole golfcourse.

And, of course, there are plenty of activities. Short-term respite stays are also available starting at $145 per day for independent living and $185 for assisted living.
